I think the answer to this question differs depending on age and maturity. As an adult and a mother of 4 children I don't want anything except smiles on my childrens faces. So if you ask me what I want for Christmas I really can't think of a thing I want. If you have to get me something for Christmas then you will need to resort to getting me something I need such as a gift certificate to Walmart or Kroger.

Well, I usually want something that I need and I really like getting those type of gifts b/c I know they will be used. I usually tell my close relatives--inlaws what I need like this year I want some Rubbermaid dishes because I have lost all the right fitting lids for mine lol. I go with things I really need. Then I also appreciate the nice surprise of a pretty sweater that I will wear to work. So yes, I like useful things.

I prefer something I want because if I needed it I would end up buying it. It wouldn't make me happier something I want but I'm not thinking on buying it because I need to buy other things instead. It's like when you know what you're getting for Christmas. You are happier when you get something that you didn't expect and you really like than something you really like too but you expected.

I really prefer something that I need- like the year that I begged and hinted and begged some more for a vacuum! Mine was broken and I really needed one. I was totally bummed when I got everything but the vacuum. Need or Want - really either is fine just so long as it isn't junk that I have no idea what to do with it other then donate it to goodwill.

I don't ask for something i don't want but from that one special person I usually like to be surprised. Christmas is about giving not receiving. If a person loves you enough they will know what you want and what you need. But to love them back you should graciously receive whatever they give you.

I'm going to have to go with "Want" because really I don't need anything. I think many of us are blessed that we don't need anything. However if asked to make a list for christmas.....well I looked at mine and I can live without all of it.....so it's all want's nothing on that list is a need. Gosh that makes me feel really blessed.....and also selfish for wanting what I dont' need.

I guess it depends on how much money I have. If it's not a lot, I would prefer the things I need. However, if I could easily purchase needed items, I would like to receive the things I just want.

It depends. Usually the stuff that I want, I need (new clothing, makeup as I'm a Makeup Artist, etc). Either way, I appreciate any gift I get, from socks to a new kit.

Both. My fiance actually is threatening me that he is going to buy me a mixer for Christmas. I think he thinks I am going to get upset, but I don't mind :)
