I went to college years ago, and received a 2.47 GPA. I know this is low and does not reflect my abilities or intelligence. My life path has brought me to a point in life where I want to be a classroom teacher. In NH you need an undergraduate GPA of 2.5. If I take college courses at this point (and get A's) will that raise my GPA? I know it cannot alter my official GPA from my university,...but unofficially it should raise the overall gpa, shouldn't it?

If you take classes and earn grades better than your current GPA, you will raise it. How much you raise it depends on the grade, the # of grade points you earn, and how many grade points you had before to earn the 2.47 GPA. You'd have to run the numbers to find out how many classes you'd have to take, and how well you'd have to do, to raise the average.

Repeating courses in which you did poorly is the best and fastest way to raise your cumulative grade point average. However, the college may have the option of examining the "last 60 hours" of college work in order to assess your admission into the Education program. This means that you could take a semester or two (depending on what your last grades looked like) and then apply.

Your best resource is the college you want to attend. There are probably many more options than you think. For instance, do you have a bachelor's? Then you may think of getting a master's in education (still need to raise that gpa, but your earning potential would be greater). Don't have a bachelor's yet? Repeat some courses then do the bachelor's in education.

depends. we need to know how many classes your taking and how your university grades. Is it A B C D E. or A- A B B- B+ and so on. Also we need to know how many credits each class is worth. but it should raise your GPA though.
