Feminism is not a proper way to change the conventional gender roles of these eccentric nations. So promoting Feminism in Asian-Muslim countries would be a total failure and wastages of time since our social structure will not allow doing it impeccably.

first, imposing a Western brand of ideals in a culturally and traditionally different group of people is wrong and ineffective.
it is wrong since there is no culture that is in the absolute right and there is no culture that is superior over the other. what we have are nations that have the political power to impose their beliefs. this power to impose is not the true measure of righteousness.
it is also ineffective since, although not impossible, it is very difficult to change a group of people's traditions. even after several centuries of indoctrination, some of the practices would still reappear.

second, there are already movements, although still very small, towards feminism in Islamic groups. there is no need for Western feminism since the Muslims themselves already have the appropriate answer to their problems. what these groups are aiming for is the rediscovery of the true message or interpretation of the Quran since, in their argument, the Quran does not endorse or encourage the mistreatment and subjugation of women.

third, for change to be effective and long-lasting, it must come from within. these change, according to Habermas, must be discovered and initiated by the people who wants change.

They need to move on and see that women should be able to vote, drive, have freedom of expression, choose their partners, be able to go out in public without a male relative....
Their patriarchal society just screams of being frightened of if women did have free will-they couldn't handle that.
They may not want to embrace all western views as some will not be compatible with religion.
I'm sure a lot of Asian-Muslim women would welcome changes.
