I was just putting my potato's on for the dinner, and the handle of the pan snapped, of course had they been hot, that would have potential harmful consequences, have you checked your pan handles recently? The pans are swan, and 4 years old.

If they are dishwasher safe you've not done wrong there then but we tend to check the screws on the handles every now and then just to be on the safe side as they can become loose. Swan usually have a guarantee on their products including pans so if you did all the necessary when you first bought them and kept the paperwork claim off them for a new set if the guarantee was for 10 years+.
Send them a line or two on it anyway regardless of all of the above coz it might be a fault in the metal or something. You never know you might get some compensation from it.
Glad it didn't have boiling water in coz that doesn't bear thinking about....someone was watching over you today!

Best option would be to buy pans with handles welded on,lol.
Try looking for a pan hire shop, then when they do break it is the hire centres responsibility to replace or repair them. :)

Do you put them in the dishwasher? That really knocks them about!

I use 'LE CREUSET' pans made from cast Iron.
Like Boilers, you get what you pay for.
