Funny you should ask that because only last Monday I was chatting to a rather pretty Bramley Apple.

It is 'living' while it is on the tree - but it is not a creature as such, it is the fruit of a creature (the apple tree).
But it is designed to drop off the tree and be eaten - if it wasn't the creature (the apple tree) wouldn't be able to make new apple trees. so as long as you plant the seeds, you can eat all the apples you like!

It's living until you pick it from the tree....
I don't think it's a creature, though....

Its a living plant.
Either you look at it as a whole, or even at its cell alone. Plant's cell doesn't move on its own.

i don't think so.
does it have a brain?
hypothetically, if apples do have brains and we eat them, that's just plain sick to think about chewing on somethings brain.
but they don't, so i will continue to eat apples.
