How terrible.
My family are mostly bearable. I tolerate my Mother in Law - she's horrendous (think of Dame Edna crossed with Maggie Thatcher), but I put on a brave face and resist lacing her Christmas dinner with Senna Pods.
Can't you grin and bear it for a few days?
Edit
Wow - just read Julia's post - some things are definitely unforgivable!

Nor me, light dawned when going home from my family Christmas with my present that I knew cost < £5.00 yet they have 4 expencive holidays a year and two cars. I'd brought food drink and presents for the family which cost me about £200.00, that was the last time!

Yep, I'm just like you.
My mother ran off with my husband (he was violent, she likes violent men like her dad - my grandad) and the whole family blamed me for slinging hubby out in the first place, so I haven't had any contact with any relatives for over 10 years.
Have brilliant in laws instead! They get my pressies, and I make a donation every year to a kids charity (Childline), to the amount that I would have given to my lousy family, so the needy kids win.
Some things are just not forgiveable - sorry to all those posters who say 'aah, they love you,, they're your family, its Christmas, just forget about it and forgive them! - HUMBUG!!

Maybe there should be a kind of Christmas amnesty where all the people who've decided to blank members of their family should at least be required to explain why.
I buy everyone presents - I'm soft like that Awww

I get on OK with most of my relations but my brother has not spoken to anyone in our family for over 10 years, nobody knows why. I see him in the street and he just walks straight past me like I don't exsist. We have all tried and tried but he did not even come to our dad's funeral. Very upsetting and sad. I only have one brother but he does not seem to want a sister. : -(
We used to get on pretty well.

I don't know if you asked this question in jest but there is so much truth on what you say. I am not close to my brothers and sisters at all. I prefer my friends to them, LOL !
