Turkey is looking to join the EU, and yet it STILL refuses to acknowledge the genocide inflicted upon the Armenians, Assyrians and Pontic Greeks during and after WW1, where over 1 million Armenians died and the Assyrians lost two thirds of their entire population. Some Circassians and Georgians were also killed.

Turkish writers and commentators who mention the genocide are often arrested, prosecuted and jailed for doing so.

Should Turkey be pressured more on this issue, should it be taught in schools, along with the Holocaust, should Turkey be barred from the EU because of it?

NB; Its a fact of history that it did happen, the wounds are still there for the 3 races concerned, mainly because turkey wont admit it!

Also, the Germans, and even the Japanese to a certain degree admit the atrocities their nations committed, why cant the Turks?

Armenians betrayed Ottoman Empire by cooperating with Czardom Russia to occupy the east of Anatolia. Armenians attacked Turkish villages and slaughtered a lot of innocent people. However, there was no Armenian genocide. Armenians were transferred to Syria to stop their attacks.

On the other hand, I do not claim that there were no deaths, but the only reasons for those deaths were due to lack of supplies, contagious and other diseases, from which the Turks, suffered.

It was something all the citizens of empire suffer from, including the Turks. For example, 90 thousands Turkish soldiers died in Sarıkamış because the Turks did not have the sufficient supplies either. Furthermore, the ones who caused those soldiers died were Armenians inasmuch as they back stepped the empire and supported Chazdom Russia, who those soldiers went to fight against to protect their country.

Then if someone asked why Armenians lie, my answer would be the 8. paragraph of the text provided on the link following.

That is why they want a recognition for the so-called genocide from Turkey. The only thing they are interested in is compensation, and this is the reason why they try to change the date of so-called genocide, according to them it was between 1915-1917, but now they say it was 1915-1923.

Why do they try to change the date of the so-called genocide, even the territory was under the occupation of the Entente Powers. So if there was a genocide, how the Entente Powers allowed it to be taken place? The answer is very clear there was no genocide, but they try to make a relation between the so-called genocide and the founders of the Republic of Turkey so that they can claim compensation from Turkey as according to international laws they cannot demand anything from Turkey as European Parliament stated that clearly

" Believes that the tragic events in 1915-1917 involving the Armenians living in the territory of the Ottoman Empire constitute genocide within the meaning of the convention on the prevention and the punishment of the crime of genocide adopted by the UN General Assembly on 9 December 1948; Recognizes, however, that the present Turkey cannot be held responsible for the tragedy experienced by the Armenians of the Ottoman Empire and stresses that neither political nor legal or material claims against present-day Turkey can be derived from the recognition of this historical event as an act of genocide " ( 18 July, 1987)

Just search the recognitions done by some countries, they are all about the Ottoman Empire, but why do you think Armenians make a lot of desperate attempts to get a recognition form Turkey? They want to take the thing they could not take by massacring the Turks.

The date is not the only thing Armenians try to change but the numbers of the deaths they claim :

Turkey and Greece have agreed on a convention for population exchange. Well, as about Assyrians, most of them converted into Islam, and there was a very high tension between the Kurds and Assyrians, but I cannot tell the reality of the events between the Kurds and Assyrians.

Edit : Those who converted to Islam accepted Kurdish identity. After that, they did not call themselves Assyrians. That is why there are no Assyrian Muslims.

Firstly, I must agree, Bennu, with all respect, you are talking rubbish about the ssyrians, Im Assyrian, we are all christian, remember im talking about Assyrians not Syrians!

Also the rmenians did not have a country at the time, they were ruled by the Turks, as were the Assyrian and Pontic Greeks......it was natural when WW1 broke out that all these peoples took the opportunity to take THEIR LANDS back from the Turks.

They failed because the British and Russians, simply used them as a diversionary tactic, and abandoned them.

What followed, when they ran out of ammunition and supplies was a wholesale massacre....turks and kurds falling upon Armenians, Assyrians and Greeks, slaughtering men, women, children, old people....raping women and young girls, burning assyrian and armenian towns, villages, churches....attacking civilian refugee columns, kurds and Arabs also played a major part, a chance to murder, rape and rob christians!

According to a recent survey, 8 out of 10 Turkish people DO NOT want to join the EU. And your question, please be informed that, it was nothing but a battle between two countries therefore, there is no such thing as an Armenian genocide.

I did a small research of my own about what you claim that "...Turkey is looking to join the EU" -- That is NOT true. You can quote anyone you like, cite any article you want but Turkish people do NOT wish to join the EU. That's an invention of politicians. From my enquiries amongst Turkish people they do NOT want to belong to a Union of Christians. So I guess this thing is being FORCED upon Turks as it is being forced upon Christians in Europe. I don't want Turkey in the EU and it is obvbious they don't want to join us either. Mis-information and lies seem to be the basis of politics nowadays. Sickening !!!

I do not condone what the Turks have inflicted in the past & I do not condone what ill treatment that they are presently doing to the Kurds. You mentioned how the Germans (Holocaust III) & the Japanese are addressing their atrocities; however with reference to Holocaust I where the English have never addressed or apologised for the murder, stravation & for doing nothing to assist the Irish from 1845 - 49. Nor did the English address or apologise for the murder, stravation & for doing nothing to assist the Boer women & children from 1899 - 1902; during Holocaust II in South Africa.
Yes; you are right to be concerned about the lamentable Turks, however if the Turks promise to apologise, once the English do first. Well that's not going to happen; why? The English.............didn't do anything wrong!

turks killed a million.5 million armenians for no different reason yet to thieve their land. armenians did no longer something to the turks. they attempt to make excuses that armenians have been attempting to combat them, that's a lie, and that supposedly gave them the excuse to objective to wipe them out.

Forcing some one to apologize for the actions of their forefathers is a waste of time. Any that are still living could apologize to any Armenians that lived thru it but there is no point holding someone accountable who was not involved.
