I've had money stolen at a movie theater what do i do?

I was with a friend and he accidently left their wallet at the movie theater. it had his entire unemployment check(that he just cashed) and was everything he was living off of for the next month. so he goes back to get and it he gets it and all his money is stolen.

and another friend of mine left her bag at the same theater (at a different time) and came back to get it and was obviously look through and had $40 stolen

he tried to talk to management but they arn't doing anything about it and trying to ignore him. what should he do?

my friend does have a bank accout. but what i'm getting at is this theater is stealling people's money.
my second friend just went back to get her back 10mins after the movie was over. the didn't keep it for her, she found it where she left it.

i just want the person who's taking what's not his get fired and all that have had their money stolen have justice. is that not possible?

You are under the assumption that an employee took the money.. anyone in the theater (including other patrons who may or may not have been there to watch the same movie.) could have stolen it.. I've even noticed people who went into a theater after people left who hadn't been in there while it was playing. I've watched my friend clean a theater (she worked in one years ago) and they don't go seat by seat checking.. they used a leaf blower to blow everything down to the bottom.. then scanned the seats.. wallets and purses are rather easy to not notice.. (especially, since most people will put them in the folded up seat next to them) Tell them to get a chain or something so they can't leave it behind. The theater is not responsible for it, and with no clue who took the money there is nothing they can do.

The movie theater is not responsible for items left behind. They went above and beyond by holding the wallet in lost and found. Your friend is out of luck because 1) he has no physical evidence of WHO took his money and 2) he has no proof of how much money he had in his wallet. That is the problem with carrying cash.

Might i recommend tht he looks into other methods of receivng his unemployment pay. Where i live in Ohio I had the option to rrceive a state issued debit card on which they would credit my benefits. A lot of check cashing places also offer reloadable prepaid credit cards. The benefit of having those is that your funds can be replaced if stolen.

They both need to get bank accounts. Unfortunately carrying a lot of cash is a bad idea ALL of the time. No way to prove anything was taken.
