You have alot of the same rights married people do, with a few exceptions. Talk to a lawyer for the best advice.

Some of the rights as married people may be the same, but it is difficult to tell without being a family law lawyer.
So get a family law lawyer. You at least get all the stuff you had before you and your partner moved in together. Child support to the partner with the lower income if children are involved, as a general rule.
Maybe community property rights for both. Probably no palimony but who knows except a family law attorney?
Why do you want legal rights instead of just breaking up and going separate ways?

It will depend on what state you live in, some states dont reconize same sex relationships, others simply frown on it, and their are those few that will make a modest attempt at protecting you and your assets, we have come a long way, but still we are years away from accepting one another as equals, I have alot of gay friends so I do know what your going thru, I personally am not gay, but I do understand your fears and concerns are just like anyone else coming out of a relationship, I can give you some advise for any future relationships, next time around protect yourself in more ways then one, its very important that people realize that relationships sometimes fail, and when this happens things can get ugly, the person who we once thought was just the sweetest thing since apple pie is now the devil himself, people tend to change when they feel their about to lose thier comfort zone, they can get ugly, so I recomend to those of you who have money or assets or property to write up a legal agreement prior to marriage or shacking up that will ensure that if the relationship sours your protected.

Neither of you have legal rights. You each take your personal stuff and try to decide you gets what of the rest. The only time there are legal rights is if you are married. Sorry but there are no laws for people who live together.

In some states, if you have lived together more than 7 years, you are considered in a common law marriage. YOu should consult an attorney on this because different states have different laws. In N.Y., there is a law that if you are with someone living common law more than seven years, you are entitled to part of his possessions and some of his earnings. Check out your rights.
