The reason for this is due to the fact that democracy is largely a fraud. The majority of the public consists of working class people, yet the wealthy capitalists run the show -- either as Republicans or Democrats. They do this by pretending to represent the working class public, but in reality they represent the capitalists. Did the working class public decide that they wanted Hillary, Giuliani, Romney and the gang? No. They were provided to us as the viable candidates by the wealth-elite in the "money primaries."
As any working class person is aware, the essence of capitalism is class warfare. The boss gets richer and richer when labor works harder and harder for less and less. The interests of the boss are diametrically opposite to those of his workers. We keep voting for the boss who is promising us lots of good things, but when they get elected they of course represent themselves to the detriment of the majority working class public.
"Republicans believe that government is incompetent and ineffective -- and whenever they get elected, they prove it." -- Bill Maher

Let me tell you something about our sorry a s s president Bush who lies to the people (including the ones who put him in office). Of the promises that never ever occur. That's why a large number of Americans can't trust our government for the simple fact that the politicians have corrupted our Foundering Father's system. Many at least over 3900 troops have lost their lives on a senseless war because Dubba is trying to make his father happy by now invading Iraq and starting something with Iran. Don't even bring up the gas prices due to "unseen circumstances" such as the recent oil spill or if Dubba didn't get his way.
The sorry A S S Democrats who are in charged in the house are so freaking worthless. The newly elected speaker of the house in my opinion hasn't done anything but help the Dubba out in spending more money for this war.
Remember, that the government was for the people, by the people and run by the people. That crap is no longer available for us. They also mentioned that our so-called vote counts so vote. Well your popular vote counts just like wiping your @ $ $. The president is elected by the electoral college. Only twice in our history that has happen. That's why you get all this distrust in our American government.

Conservatives - employing the popular definition, besides - tend to appreciate valid authority. Liberals are greater huge-unfold for distrusting authority. Libertarians (who do no longer smartly in positive condition into the present left/outstanding dichotomy), tend to mistrust government, extremely, and decide to limmit it is skill. Liberals and conservatives do seem to have it in for eachother, although. 'Hate' is in all threat too stable a be conscious for many of them, in spite of the shown fact that it is there on the two aspects, and actually comes out under the veil of annonymity you get on the internet. u.s. is relatively a paradox: it is a rustic based in revolution (that's a liberal proper) yet that revolution has been enshirined in 2 centuries of custom (a conservative proper). the two liberals and conservatives, as a result, have some rhetorical declare on the identify 'authentic american.'

Because the closer you watch it, the more disingenuous it is. The not wanting to read bills they vote on isn't great, either.

Negative campaigning started the trend -- with our politicians themselves calling each other traitors and crooks all the time, we citizens have come to assume this is the case.
And, to be frank, we get the leaders we deserve.

I suspect it is just being lazy. It is easy to blame those in power for your problems. They should spend their energy finding solutions to problems rather than someone to blame them on. Seems 'Good old Yankee know-how' is a think of the past
