i would like to dream thousands ,
the reality may be only a couple
if it was nobody
i will go and sell tacos on the street instead
because obviously i would be wasting my time here .

so the counter is nice it can be an fantastic incentive to inspire us to greater more detailed deep and interesting answers relentlessly persuing the road to educating and enlightening the masses ,i would feel like Al Gore or >Jesus .

On the other hand it can destroy any hope we have left ,drive us into voluntary exile and despair ,only a step away from intellectual suicide

we can only die once
(this is also a programmed misbelief)

I couldn't vote because I'd already voted for it several days ago, but I think it's a GREAT idea. As it is now, we don't know if we're wasting time researching and writing answers that nobody sees, especially if we disagree with the asker and want to set the record straight with some facts.
