seems like a good recipe for a lot of sh*tty, superfluous corporate-branded bowl games, doesn't it

I don't see anything wrong with it. I enjoy watching interregional matchups, even against mediocre teams. I also like the 6-6 SEC vs 10-2 MAC matchups, and things like that.

I agree....a team should at least have to have a winning record. 7-5 would be better.

It makes you eligible but with the parody in college ball this year, it more than likely wont be enough to go bowling unless it was the KMart bowl in Bangor, Maine.

You become eligible for one of he pre-Christmas bowls, which is why NCAAF should go to a NFL type playoff system.
