I have spent one xmas eve stuck in a long line up of vehicles on the Rogers Pass here in BC Canada, with my sister, because a snow slide closed the highway. We were between two semis so we loaded up the truck drivers and drove back to the nearest town to get something to eat and get some coffee. Dont remember their names or what they looked like. One was from the US and one was from Ontario.
Spent another xmas on a greyhound bus, all the hwys were closed, just me and the driver. He was determined he was getting home for xmas morning, so he crossed the border, drove across idaho and back into canada. He drove me right to my parents door ! It was 5 AM when mom woke up to see a greyhound bus pulling into their yard, What a lovely man he was , we spent about 12 hours together. Even crossed on a little ferry that didnt usually take greyhound buses - winding through back roads in the middle of nowhere so he could be home for xmas with his family.

Probably like a lot of guys at the time the strangest Christmas I can remember is in a bar/...house in Saigon in 1969. Firing going on all over outside and inside me and a bunch of SF's and all these Vietnamese people trying to sing Christmas carols in something like English. It was a riot.

It was at my daughter's house many years ago. Her then boyfriend was there and he invited a "friend" to dinner who did not have any other plans. Well, it turns out this friend had just robbed a gas station and stole a car the day before and had a rap sheet a mile long. The police were apparently on to him and we suspect he was just looking for a place to hide out. During dinner we had a knock on the door and before my daughter could answer it, we heard through a bullhorn "Come on out with your hands up". We at first thought it was a joke or something and my hubby even had the nerve to say something like "Ya did it now Gladys". Just about then, the friend jumped up and ran out the back door. The police tracked him there and had the place surrounded. He was cuffed and down on the ground in no time and eventually hauled off. The rest of the afternoon was spent answering questions from the police. It was then we decided to do Christmas at our house the next year!

In a hotel room in Washington, DC last year, alone. Working at Red Cross headquarters for the hurricane recovery program, I spent all the holidays from Thanksgiving, through Christmas until January, alone in a hotel

I think I might win! Just kidding, those are really interesting. And uplifting in a way :) Mine is not so much...I spent one Christmas in the Psychiatric Ward of Johns Hopkins Hospital! (that is a well-known and prestigious hospital in Baltimore). I was being treated for a condition I have and that is where I ended up. And let me tell ya...had to have been the wildest and most interesting Christmas I have ever had.

Those are great stories. Maybe you had better stay off of Rogers Pass in the winter.
Does as anniversary count? I spent my first wedding anniversary bear hunting in northern California. We were way back in the mountains in a little 16 ft. trailer.
