The only one which comes to mind as being in any way similar is MIT (The Massachusetts Institute of Technology).

I think of Johns Hopkins and Chicago as cousin schools: they're both challenging programs, and they've got similarly driven student bodies. Hopkins isn't quite as good with the quirky, though, and I'd take Chicago over Baltimore any day (less windchill in the latter, though). If the quirkiness is important, consider Reed, Oberlin, or St. John's.
