Most crocodiles are born on river banks.

The female Nile Crocodile digs a hole in the sand and lays 30-100 eggs in two layers and covers them with sand. The eggs hatch out 1 1/2 -3 months.

The Esturine Crocodile found in east coast of India and Ceylon, the female makes a nest of vegetation,in which she lays 20-60 eggs.

Some alligators are born the same.

The Mississippi Alligator makes a hole on a sand mound and lays 20-70 eggs and covers them with sand. The eggs hatch in 9-10 weeks.

Crocodiles lay their eggs on "nest" which are usually mounds of mud and rotting vegetation next to permanent water. The eggs are kept in that nest until they are hatched.

Nesting usually occur during the wet seasons which is unfavorable resulting to at least 75 % hatching failure of the eggs laid because of the flooding on the nests.

what knox said was correct to add more info, Crocodile embryos do not have sex chromosomes, and unlike humans sex is not determined genetically. Sex is determined by temperature, with males produced at around 31.6 degrees celsius, and females produced at slightly lower and higher temperatures. The average incubation period is around 80 days, and also is dependent upon temperature
