2. Love Hina - if you want full-blown romance, this things for you. its hilarious too by the way.

I know that they are manga instead, but Tramps Like Us, Nana, and Paradise kiss are 3 romantic japanese comics that are mature enough (no high school, for the most part), interesting, well drawn, and enrapturing.
As of right now, Paradise Kiss is also an anime.
