First of all, lets start with the premise that MOST Americans have never MET a communist, nor a socialist and have an automatic knee-jerk reaction to both words.

Secondly, France, Canada and Germany are all socialist countries. As we do not seem to be rattling sabers in their direction, its safe to assume that the US Government does NOT consider them to be "dangerous."

We continue to hold Cuba a to be dangerous because they are "communist", but fall all over ourselves to do business with China, which IS a proven dangerous communist country.

Go figure.

The fact of the matter is that the only people who are "dangerous" are FANATICS of ANY kind, whether they be communist, socialist, Islamic, Christian, Jewish.

As an American who has worked and lived in both socialist and communist countries, the one thing I have found to be universal is that all people have the same concerns and that all governments, regardless of political system, are completely full of manure.

Judge people as individuals and stop generalizing.

Communism is socialism.
However, socialism also describes all shades of leftwing government

All types of socialism are economically self defeating as they suppress humans natural urge to succeed by removing motivation.
Unfortunately, socialist governments often patch up their failing systems with heavy tax burdens and general oppression of the population.
Obviously, communism is the far left of the political spectrum and it has always failed because of the human instinct for freedom in all senses of the word.Socialism in western europe is also doomed to failure ,keep an eye on the next elections in britain.

I would consider both of them dangerous to our type of Government. Having said that,it should not interfere with our interaction with them,we should be minding the store closer.
It's not hard to find out what form of Government each Country has. Nor is that difficult to find out the political persuasion of an individual. Listen to them long enough and they will give themselves away.

Neither is a serious threat to anyone but to their own economies if such an idealogue achives power somewhere.

Neither, Capitalist's would be the correct answer, communisim
and socialism were at their origin's meant to give everyone a fair shot at life and to allow no one to be above anyone else. It is the greed of capitalism that destroyed the framework of these social experiments
