People on this site like to deal in "hypotheticals" so lets give them one. One based on facts. FACT: Boras messed up: FACT: A-Rod wanted to be a Yank FACT: A-Rod got that contract didn't he? FACT: A-Rod is going to be paid for making those milestones so you don't have to worry about him getting the contract (Mike Hampton, Albert Belle, Mo Vaughn, Chan Ho Park, etc) and then NOT performing. He performed after the 1st one, and he will after the 2nd one ESPECIALLY after the incentives. He wants to get the record as a Yank, the Yanks want to take the record back. The Yanks are the most improved team in baseball by adding 3 young studs to the rotation. Nuff said. Abreu, Giambi, Mussina, Giambi are all off the books next year. That's 70 mill PLUS!!! They kept their (ok aging core) but they are going to be able to OVERPAY for it now because they can SPEND next year. No true Yanks fan will admit we will WIN this year. C'Mon, that's retarded, but the Sox wont either and that's obvious. The Cubs will most likely win, and then the Yanks for the next 5 outta 10 years. Disagree? Ok that's cool I respect that, but history proves you wrong time and time again. When will you ever learn?

Why would A R O D ever want to opt out of $27+ million dollars a year when he's 38+ years old? He will likely get peanuts with a new contract like Sammy's $7 mil a year.

Yankees might have a buy-out clause in there somewhere, however.

The contract has not been made public at this time, but rumor has it that there is no opt out clause. Remember, his previous contract did have an opt out clause that was negotiated between A-Rod and the Texas Rangers and the Yankees inherited that clause when A-Rod came from the Rangers to the Yankees.

EDIT:
C-Note, Legends, Gosuleague. Michael Victorious, Moctober, Yee Haw, Fake Chipmaker, as usual you ramble on about everything and don't even answer the question. Answer this one question for me, " are all of these accounts yours and why do you need them?"

His new contract to $305 million over 10 years. As of now there is no opt-out. Why opt-out if he were to tie Willie Mays, Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, and Barry Bonds. If he ties or passes them he get another $6 million and another 6million for breaking Bonds' major league record. This is in the process of being finalized.

I can't see the Yankees allowing such a clause to exist (it would have to be early in the contract to make sense like say two or three years in)

Dont know the answer to that one, but it appears to me that A-Rod wanted to stay with the Yankees. I think it now for A-Rod has more to do with just putting up numbers, it has to do with building a legacy for himself. Nobody wants to go into the Hall with a dollar sign on their cap.

The details of the contract have not been made public yet, so no one knows.
