What everyday English words or objects do you think would make the best baby names? (Don't worry...I wouldn't use these. This is just for fun.)

Examples:
Boys: Train, Wagon, Clock
Girls: Thimble, Seven (recognize the Seinfeld reference?)

Not allowed:
Names from nature (Leaf, Rainbow - hippies already tried this)
Gemstones
Attributes/Abstract nouns (Grace, Destiny, Patience)

Most of these are, I think, pretty gender neutral:

Journey
Story
Lyric
Lucky
Cadence
Serenity
Lavender
Zephyr
Echo
Swift
Bliss
Atlas
Cricket
Bishop
Ever
Ember
Wing
North
Bay
Archer
Painter
Sailor
Parable
Noble
Rune

Some of them have older roots - like Atlas. And I quite like some of them, though I'm not sure I'd *use* them. :)

Um, let me think...

Apple (as in Apple Paltrow -- haha!) for a girl!
I'd never name a child this but there aren't many English words that would make good names xD
Are colors allowed? Indigo and Red for a boy and Violet and Scarlet for a girl :)

Hm. This is a tough one.
Chandelier for a girl! Haha!
I know, that's an awful one.

Great question!
I'm going to give you a star (*)

How about Christian? It isn't exactly the same - there's more emphasis on the second i - an "ee" in German, so it *almost* has three syllables, but it is quite close. Incidentally, you might want to ask about nicknames. When we chose our son's name, we stuck with a classic that (we thought) worked in both Polish and English. After he was born, my mother-in-law called him the most awful thing. Turns out she was using a traditional diminutive for Alexander - but not one I found listed anywhere. It's too late to rename our kiddo, but now I run all names by her so I can hear what she'll *actually* call her grandchild.
