Cardboard or plastic can be recycled. Look for a label that says it *is* recycled before you buy it. If you want to do the recycling yourself, go to a junk yard and look for "raw materials". Find out where they dump the over-sized items (like furniture).

Use the planks from a freight pallet or something.
