I am 26yrs old and definitely not pregnant. My monthly cycle is 25-26 days.I had my periods on October 20th and expected the next one on November 15th.My dad passed away on November 2nd.It was sudden and shocking and I am greatly stressed out.I am 10 days late for my periods now and still waiting.I understand that stress could delay periods. How long should I wait before I see a doctor or is there any safe way to induce it?(I tried papaya, dates and Sesame seeds but in vain)I have been very regular and never missed it from the time of puberty.I have never ever had the need to take any pills to delay or advance periods or take any birth control. Please advise.

Anu, The loss of a close family member would truly have been devastating. My heart felt condolonces and my prayers are for you and your family.
I am not doctor neither am I an expert in this issue. All that I can tell you is that stress might be a factor, as you have clearly mentioned that you are not pregnant. Probably it would be better to approach a Doctor who is more educated in this issue than trying to seek answers here. Please get to the Doctor to seek remedy.

Do not do any self medication. These are too much heat generating and bad for your helath. It happens when you are too stressed or depressed. You will be alright within a couple of months. Try to relax. Do pranayama.

Do not be afraid, as it is natural. Take your meals properly, if it get delay more than 15-20 days ask your gynecologist for advice.

Stress can delay a period.

If you've had sex, you could be pregnant (protection or not, period or not, you could be, just an FYI).

Sounds like it is stress though.
