I don't know about your link it is not showing.

But the American dream isn't dying. Optimism, hope, and other positive emotions have a powerful effect on a person's life . These factors have changed the world at times.

The fault of more losing their hope for the American Dream is because so many people are ACCEPTING what they know isn't good or right. Those combating their American Dream are engaged in an exhausting, consuming battle. Adding the guilt of their accepting all the wrong that goes on is adding to their already heavy burden and is surely the last thing that they should do. (Zen and the Positive thinker)
Such pessimistic thinking,, hampers people in many of life's endeavors or even paralyzes them into inaction
If we habitually believe, as does the pessimist, that misfortune is our fault or blaming others, it is enduring, and will undermine everything we do, more of it will befall us than if we believe otherwise.
I for one plan on to keep pursuing the American dream and all I have to do is pursue what I know brings me happiness and not listen to others.
Obstacles will arise, but I need to view them as challenges instead of dead ends.

However, we also need to think of practical ways to meet our goals. I will continue to believe and follow only things I know have been a positive influence in my life. Even if at times I didn't agree or see the advantage I received.

If there is a fault to be laid than it falls on those who are listening or following what they know are negative or bad influences but from some reason continue to do so.

to answer you would have to look to the large business concerns in the USA most are not even american anymore in attitude when did you ever hear of a company apologizing to a country for recalling bad products made in that country, these concerns are the real rulers of america not the people and they have decided to rid the country of the american dream and declare war on the middle class in the name of the holy grail to them profit and how to make more profits so there is your fault, they also decide not that it matters who becomes president of the country just look to the outcome of 2000 nine people decided over the public who would be and it should have gone to the one that got the most popular votes instead, so if you can line yourself up with large business then you can make the sky your limit and that is why we have the american dream dying

No, that's not a very logical question at all.

It could not be more alive, in my opinion.

I grew up in a very lower middle class family, struggled my way through college, working my way through the entire way with no help or loans from anyone. I then went to graduate school, getting government loans, working all the way through.

I now own 2 homes, renting one out, just sold one business, working on another. Married, first kid on the way. Working for a startup now, just about to setup another business, doing quite well, thank you very much.

Not much of a safety net since I am hedging on a sure-fire business I learned from another person (I am a contrarian and do well when the real estate market goes down) and live quite comfortably, but never above my means.

All of my friends do the same- they either work for themselves, or work for the government, state of California, or private companies after college, all making close to or over 6 figures after working their butts off for 10 years.

The american dream is alive an well for those willing to put the effort into it, work hard, go to college, and EARN IT.

Yes, everyone is at fault!

Lets take a look at the American Dream shall we?

A decent job with benefits, a house with a white picket fence, 2.5 kids in a nice school, with a budding cushion or nest egg.

Do you know how attainable any of those things are? Even the crappiest houses are 550k +. Jobs don't want to offer benefits or reasonable pay, and those that do are (even somewhat) asking for a lot of education for very little in exchange. Public schools are crap, private school/college tuition is ridiculous.

The job market is in the toilet and no one (even the most lowly fast food chain) is offering any kind of work experience. They say if things were adjusted to how things were, say, 50yrs ago things would be the same. LIES!

But it's not all Bush's fault. It's our own. We place priority on iPhones and Laptops, BMWs and entertainment. Is Bush at fault? Hell YES! But never can we say it's the fault of one man alone.

i have never seen a more angry, sensitive, lazy, indignant group of people than my fellow Americans.

Yes, it's not politics though, we have always had controversy in politics.

It's more about dysfunctional families, gaming systems, big business moving off shore, NAFTA, CNN, MSNBC, FOX"news", they all trigger too much controversy, push too hard to come up with a story when it really isn't and of course the web to much info and people like you and I that think we have the answer.

Yes it probably is. it`s something that was valid along time ago. These stories about the U.S are old myths. Europeans know better than to believe in them.
