My Little one is 14 months old and i am still breast feeding her. It has been a bit hard at times as i have gone back to work but when i am not there in the day she is fine without the milk but if i'm there she expects it on tap. now she is the little bit older i have stopped feeding her in publ;ic but my mum and my partner think that i should give up because she is not a great sleeper and they think this is the reason why, what shall i do?

I am in the same position. Our 15 month old is breastfeeding. Our baby eats everything except for eggs- she does not like any egg at all, no matter how it is cooked. Not fussy at all. I think that depends on the child.
If you have just gone back to work, she likely is reacting. When I get home from work, our baby literally leaps into my arms, blankie in tow for nursing.
I have been pressured by my husband to wean her- but am holding him off a bit. I know it is going to be very hard on her to do so. Sometimes at this age, it's not the nursing, it's coming back to "check in" that they need.
She wakes at night to nurse more- but it usually happens more frequently during the week, not on the weekends when she has had me home all day. She sleeps with us so it is easier.
If you are not ready to wean and clearly she is not ready to wean, don't wean. If you are ready- then try to wean. No matter what the age, weaning is hard on them. Nursing is not just getting food from you to baby, it's nurturing as well.
I know that when our daughter is home with her daddy while I am at work, she does not eat as well. I worry less because she is nursing and is able to get what she needs that way. He works nights. At dinner, she seems to make up for it though and eats a lot.
In whatever you decide- good luck to you!

There is nothing wrong with feeding a 14month old in public, she is still a baby.
so it all boils down to what YOU want. if you want to wean, wean if not just keep being there and let your daughter decide when she wants to quit.
as for sleeping it me be that she is teething, or adjusting to new foods, or anything its not automatically breastfeeding thats the cause of problems.
14 months is good. thats the longest i fed for and i have 4 kids (youngest is 10 weeks so i may get longer than 14months this time)

From experience breastfed kids don't sleep so well, but at 14 months im not sure how easy she will be to wean, they say at that age they should do it themselves, the things you've got to ask yourself is does she have a bottle? if so give her normal cows milk in it as a replacement or even go straight to cup as she doest need a bottle really. sound's like her nutritional intake is good. But when weaning, remember its your choice not your mums. you'd be surprised at the benefits surrounding continued breast feeding. I proud of you!! my two got fed till 9mths and 11 mnths

if you want to wean then wean her, if you do'nt and you want her to self wean then keep "being on tap" until she weans herself.
its a personal decision.

If you keep giving her what she wants on demand, it'll only get worse for you. Stop breast feeding her, and start teaching her how to eat real food.
