My ipod nano, 2nd generation states that it can hold 500 songs. My ipod has 2 GB, technically 1.8 GB. I currently have 192 songs, and 1 GB left. By the time I have 384 songs my ipod's capacity will be full. I should be able to upload 226 more songs onto my ipod, after I have 384. Is this a common problem? Was I suposed to expect this? I feel like I have been ripped off.

Typically, a song is about 1 MB/minute. So a typical song is about 5MB. With 1.8 GB you shoud expect about 360 songs, give or take a few.

No you have not been ripped off.

If you look closely, there's that footnote that states what format your songs have to be in order to get that 500 songs.

Most likely, your songs are higher quality than what Apple stated (which is true for pretty much everyone out there) so you're fine.

Most companies use a low format in songs to count the number of songs their players can hold.

1.8 GB = 1843.2 MB.

If you figure roughly 5 MB per song, you can fit 368 songs on your iPod.
