if not why?

There are 2 ways of looking at this.

The obvious way is; yeah they want nuclear weapons! Look what happens to Iraq and Afghanistan who didn't have them. Also, Israel has 200-400 nuclear bombs, Iran would probably want to have a deterrent from a strike from Israel or the US.

However, the IAEA, the CIA, the UN all say they're only enriching the uranium to 2% which is far below weapons grade. They're probably at least 8-10 years from developing a usable nuclear weapon. Iran is also a signer of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (along with the US) which entitles them to civilian nuclear power plants.

Another perspective from Ahmadinejad himself is: we don't want a nuclear weapons program. Look what happens to countries who have them; the USSR, USA, India, Pakistan, Israel... Their troubles didn't end when they developed nuclear warheads.

I'd like to know what all the stink is about anyway!? The only war Iran has fought in decades was against Saddam!

Finally, what about Russia and China? Russia has stated an attack on Iran will be viewed as an attack on Russia, and they will respond. China is a wildcard, they have very important economic ties with Iran and they own about 44% of the US national debt. So, as tough as the neocons and Israelis talk about Iran, and as crazy as they are, they know they cannot attack Iran unless they're committing mass suicide, like in the billions - or more.

it's pointless to argue because they are years away from actually having one, according to reliable sources. Bush & Co. just want a war and are looking for any excuse to have another one. We're out there doing Israel's bidding, like usual. Iran wouldn't have the delivery systems to strike at America even if it did get nuclear weapons. We are far more at risk from leftover cold war nukes ("loose nukes") than we are from Iran, but no one talks about that. Our actions in Iraq have made Iran a much stronger player in the region, which is unfortunate. Besides, the U.S. has stood by while Israel, Pakistan, and India have developed the bomb (and nuclear energy) so how can we now try and say that Iran shouldn't have the same protection? If there is one thing that any country quickly learns, it is that if you don't want to be invaded by the U.S. or anyone else, get the bomb.

As much as Iran not supplying Iraqi insurgents with weapons and training. The moment they can put a nuclear warhead on a missile, they will launch it against Israel and them boast about it until Admadumb@$$ is blue in the face.

the American leaders don't care if Iran has nukes or not. Iran is next on the list of countries to be attacked long way before 911.
And after Iran comes Syria, Cuba, Venezuela...

No, i do no longer think of Iran could be bombed. If nuclear weapons are used, different state-actors turns into in touch interior the problem, and it is sure to piss off somebody. quickly anybody would be threatening Nuclear conflict.

Think of it this way:

Your next door nieghbor just got punked by the village retard for supposedly having WMDs.

Over to your east, a crazy little korean dude with a funny haircut DEFINITELY has WMDs, yet the village retard has left him alone.

Wouldn't you want a WMD? I would.

Of course Iran is trying to develop a nuclear weapon.

It doesn't matter if we believe they do not want nuclear weapons, what does matter is that we do not want to give them the possibility of creating a nuclear weapon, whether it be now or sometime in the future.

Since they make no secret of their desire to develop them, then the answer is that we do not believe that Iran does not want nuclear weapons.

We do believe that they have threatened to annihilate Israel

We do believe that they are the largest state sponsor of terrorism.

We do believe that they are behind the attacks on our troops in Iraq.

We do believe if they get their nukes we will have no choice but to bomb Iran into dust.

That is unfortunate because I know some Iranian people, they tend to be warm and friendly. But unfortunately their leader is a madman.

It depends on the American. I think every country wants nuclear weapons. It's a status symbol.
