I've found a number of misspellings and errors in dictionaries. Most of the time, I knew the correct version or answer/definition. But, you can crosscheck dictionaries.
Proofreading is one of the most difficult things to do. Your mind keeps telling you it knows those words, and you have to counter that recognition. So, even people who write and proofread dictionaries can make errors.

it actually has happened before. The word "gullible" was misspelled in the Webster's 2005 edition.

well, i guess the misspelled word would be considered spelled correctly. It would explain why certain words are spelled so weirdly
