The clots are lining that built up in the uterus that month in case a pregnancy should occur. When the pregnancy doesn't occur the body sends out other messages to let it be known that it's time to get rid of the lining that built up and the uterus pushes it out of the body because it wasn't needed that month. When it comes out it comes out in clumps that are clots.

If the clots are bigger than the size of a quarter please let your doctor know so that they can evaluate the situation further.

I'm not sure what you're really saying, but I'll assume that it should go something like this: "What is causing all the clotting during my period?"

To that, the answer is, it's not blood, it's tissue. When you're not on your period, your body build up tissue in the uterus and waits for an egg to be released so it can fertilize. If the egg isn't fertilized, then it "gets flushed" and after that you get your period, which flushes out the tissue layer to repeat the cycle again. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions or need me to be more specific.

Those clots are part of your uterus lining. It is completely normal for those to come out with your menstruation. No need to worry.
