Start with the most filled box or column, with pencil, write all possible numbers in each box. The numbers will eliminate themselves and the right ones will show.

Most puzzles the secret is just practice. Start from beginners all the way up to hard.
Reason being is because you eventually remember the patterns. The more you remember (as well as how fast you remember), the faster and better you will be. My brother plays Sudoku all the time, and now, he's the only one I know who can solve pretty much any Sudoku puzzle faster than anyone I know.
I used to play chess on a team, and that's how I was able to get really high in rank without studying. Just play a lot, and soon you will be like "I remember this." If not, then at least you would have trained your brain to be smarter at playing. answers will start popping out really quickly and you'll be like "how can my friends not get this?"

once you've looked at each 3x3 box, narrow it down to two possibilities and write the number in a smaller text size in pencil if you arent sure. and when you feel completely stuck, look at the 3x3 sets that are more completed. Then count out the numbers missing. You might be able to figure out which number is missing and where.
Also, look at one entire row/column. count 1 through 9, you might figure out which number is missing that way. This last part always helps me out when I'm stuck.
Good luck!
