People are very quick to say they'd fight, or report it immediately, or not wash/shower and instead go straight to the ER, and contact friends/family... but the truth is you don't actually KNOW what you'd do until it happens to you.
I didn't do anything like that immediately after it happened. I did struggle at first, but was afraid for my life... so all the fight left me and I just cried. Then I went home and took the longest time in a scalding hot shower scrubbing every inch of myself. I felt like I was disgusting. I washed the clothes I was wearing, then went to bed. I was in college, and faked being sick the next day.
I finally went to report it a month later. I didn't know what else to do, but I couldn't stop thinking about it... and the guy wouldn't leave me alone. The detectives were really helpful, and told me that it's more common for people to report rapes a month to a year after they happen than it is for people to go to the ER immediately. It was embarrassing b/c I was always one that said, "I'd kick their a$$!" but when it came to it, I was terrified... and he was bigger than me.
My only regret is that I didn't immediately go to the ER or get counseling or go to sessions at a crisis center. I did go get extensive STD testing done at my local health department b/c it's free for rape victims. The legal process was a joke, and he took a deal that got him a restraining order and 2 years probation. It's been tough trying to deal with it on my own. Sometimes I'm fine for months... then I'll have a day where I just totally breakdown because I still can't believe it happened.

i have been raped more than one time. the 1st time i was in the 6th grade in school. i didn't tell anyone but when i was 22 i was raped again and given a sexually transmitted disease. i didn't tell anyone that time either.
honestly after reading how few caring or understanding answers you got to this question i am in shock at how people just don't care about one another anymore.
especially Bharghav that said it would be worse because he is a man??????WTF???
Rape is an act of violence and yes the 1st thing is the ER where they will talk with you and do a rape kit to get necessary evidence. i worked in an ER for a time and they would always ask if you wanted a woman that specializes in traumatic cases such as you speak of.
it is of the upmost importance that you talk with a professional about what happened to you, there will come a time where it seems like 100's of emotions hit you all at the same time and everything becomes overwhelming.
i am on disability now and am 43 y/o. i never told all the things that happened when i was growing up cause my parents didn't care what i did and i went to and did things i shouldn't have been doing. actually i have never lost my virginity to this day. 5 times this happened to me. i know i wouldn't be disabled today if i had gotten help when i should have but then i didn't know how.

Call the police and make a police report. The community and police need to know how often this terrible thing happens and they might catch who did it and there save someone else from being raped. Rape crisis centers exist all over the US and they can help you with recovering.

1. I would report it
2. I would call the crisis center and get a rape counselor with you and go to the doctor for a rape kit, STD testing and to make sure I didn't end up pregnant out of it.
3. I would go to trauma counseling. The little ways it messes with your life later when you don't deal with it when it happens can ruin a perfectly happy person.
4. I would grieve, cry, get mad and make sure I directed that anger at the person who did it and not myself.
5. I would take self-defense or a martial art to increase my confidence.

You need to go to the hospital and get a rape kit done and then you will file a police report, its that simple and if you wait to long it will just burden you forever, at least if you try and do something about it you will feel a little better.

Tell someone about it of course. But in certain cultures/countries, being a victim of rape (of the same sex) might land you in hot soup.
So I've been in that boat and my advise is to talk to someone about it, get tested (for hiv, etc) and put it behind you. Took me some time to do all that

If you are under age, call your parents, call the cops, then get right to the hospital so they can have evidence, it will be a rape kit. Oh, that makes me so mad!!!

Its difficult question to answer bec.I am not on the shoes of the victim. But my advice is try to seek councilling from the well respected person.A pastor or a psychiatrist would help.even though it hard to forget the sad experience, but she need to go on.And pray always.

I have no idea. I think I'd be traumatized for life and feel SO dirty, I can't imagine what I'd do with myself! I'd call the police at first, but that doesn't change what has already happened... But calling the police is VERY important, it seems like a crime in itself to let someone get away with something like that.

Go immediately to the hospital, have them call the police and collect all the evidence they could!! You can't let rapists get away with it. If you do the next victim is on your conscience!! :@)
