I think it's split. I know there are people who post here and who critique here who are professional writers, and who have studied poetry. I also know that there are a lot of people who just think they are poets because they throw some kind of something down and call it a poem.

I also think the desire is split: I think many people want genuine critiques but a large number actually do not.

I believe that the people who are knowledgeable are fully capable of guideance, I just don't know how much good I think it will do.

I do learn the paintings of younger poets, however despite the fact that I write poetry I am now not schooled in providing well critique. There are only a few who can do this good. In the beyond, if I suppose a child has proficiency I both famous person the paintings hoping it's going to draw in the ones extra ready to appear at it, or in a couple of occasions have honestly contacted Peter direct. More normally than now not he's already conscious of them.

I understand fully your feelings as a serious poet.
But this site is not exclusive to the upper select of who you
speak.
I think, many that post a poem are very young, and try to express their emotions, and their peers relate to them on their level. There are also "class clowns" on every one of the sites on A's! What you ask for I feel is impossible, "We do
not demand respect, we command it." But surely such as you
can plant a seed to the young that may be potential serious
poets. As for my self, I am in my 70's, an amateur poet/writer
since I was 17! with out the formal education, nor the mechanics of form, but I find it a joy to keep trying. regardless
of my shortcomings. Dare I say , Lighten up, live and let live,
share your knowledge with others, if they do not except it,
move on to the next, plant your seeds leave the rest to God,
Blessings, Jenny.

this site is unsuitable for poem workshopping for a number of reasons.

the most important of them is that because one can ever answer an answer no writer is able to enter into a dialogue with a critic here.

there are other sites where actual debate is possible, and some of them work very well.
