A third world country is at the economic level where most of its citizens are being taken advantage of by their governments and especially by the governments of other countries. When their natural resources are being exploited to the fullest, trickle down economics might lead some of the countries people into moderate prosperity. Unfortunately it has a devastating impact on the rest of the living things here as well as the air we breathe and the water quality. The idea of "high standard of living" becomes as a misnomer.

Most of the people are subsistence farmers, with little industry. Europe after the fall or Rome until 1500.
Edit: Indonesia is not third world but developing and is more like pre WWI Europe.

I don't know the exact answer to your question, but I'll provide you with an illustration: In Jakarta, with one dollar a day, you can still provide a life for a family (food, clothing, schooling, and usually illegal housing) --very poor people managed to do this.
