I just hate freezing, and I'm cold-natured. I live in NE FL and the temp is now 57 degrees. I've tried keeping it at 68 but I still get cold. What is the best temp to keep it at to cut costs. My house is 1800 square feet. What could I expect to pay keeping the heat at 74?

(74 - 57)/(68 - 57) ≈ 1.5 times your usage rate + your base rate.

It will cost more to keep it warmer, but how much more can't be predicted without more knowledge. What sort of heating system do you have? What sort of insulation in the house? Are the windows double-paned? An HVAC engineer can plug this data into a chart, and determine what your heating bill is likely to be.

good insulation will keep the cold out. and try to dress a little more clothing.keep the temperature at 69 all the time will help cut the cost of electric bill.

Instead of raising the temp, maybe you should try weatherstripping around doors and windows to help cut down on drafts. Stop the drafts and it'll feel warmer and it will be cheaper than using more fuel.

you may decrease expences in some ways.You may reduce the temp when u r leaving home specially the places that you may be used less eg :bathroom.

no not at all put one of those little electric heaters in all the rooms of your house. that way when you leave the fornt door open it will still be warm
