Most communities have a local Chamber of Commerce. Start there. Many of the current members might have information about local businesses that are no longer around.

Start with your local hall of records or old newspapers at the local library. Old local history books may be some help as well.

Go to your local public library, and see if they have old phone books.

Also, find some older folks that have lived in the town a while and talk to them.

Your best bet might be to talk to somebody who is age 65 or over, and see if they remember it. That would give you a start.
