They would look to see if this affected his ability to do his job.If it is a job where he solely deals with women then they may think it inappropriate for him to continue or if he deals with men as well then they may restrict his patient list to just men.He probably wouldn't be fired and struck off the medical register

No one........least of all his employer.....can do a thing unless he's convicted of a crime. Even then it's doubtful this would affect his job situation other then from the vantage point of it looking bad in the community. An employer can only discipline you based on job performance; if he's abusing patients then that's a different matter. There's a dreadful amount of this going on and it is vastly under-reported because of the level of control, especially financial, that perpetrators who are also professionals wield. Because of their intelligence they are also 'better' at manipulation and drawing victims in. For the most part, I see hospitals and clinics keeping this kind of thing very hush-hush. I've worked in a setting where we were told if we SPOKE to anyone about a situation involving a doctor in a scandal we would be fired.

First of all how do you define "abusive husband"? Has he been charged with or convicted of an offence?

From the hospital's point of view, they are interested in how he performs his duties. If his "extra mural" activities affects this, they will definitely get involved, otherwise not.

The hospital would certainly look into it. Just because he is a doctor doesn't make it right.

Strange isn't it. I once knew a policeman who knocked his wife about and was on a squad which dealt with domestic violence. He could not see that what he was doing was the same thing
