I don't like your rationale for this. You're automatically assuming that the child *needs* a father in his life and that it's another person's fault.
My mother had me out of wedlock and though she married my father not too long afterwards, they were not compatible and he was never around. A child is much better off with just one parent if that parent can fufill the love and attention he needs. Sure, the question of "who's my father?" will pop up one day, as it should, but the plain answer is, "He is ."
I do not have my father in my life mostly because he believed in coming in and out of it as he pleased, so, I kicked him out. My mother gives me enough love and support for two parents combined so I don't miss him at all.
Edit: And tell me, where do celebs fit in with all of this??

I suggest you go back and read the bible. Even in those times women were having children out of wedlock. The hand-maidens to the women who had husbands even had children for that couple when the wife could not conceive.
Are you aware that at least some men do not deserve to have contact with their children in this day and age? How about the registered and unregistered sex offender fathers? How about the abusive fathers? How about the fathers who disappear and don't talk to or see their children even though they know they exist?
Sorry if this sounds crude, but it needs to be said. It takes more than a man being a sperm donor to be a father for any child. And any man can be a father. But it takes a real man to be a dad.

Unlike some of the other answering folks, I think that your question has two parts that should be addressed.
First I do believe that the celebs have something to do with the lack of morality in the country but that isn't the main issue.
The issue that concerns me is that 1) I tend to agree that often we are creating a child who will be angry, neglected and resentful because they have no father and a mother who has to struggle just to survive. 2) We are putting additional strain on the welfare system because 90% of these cases result in deadbeat Dad's who pay no child support and the state / fed has to step in to help pay.
The child is neglected out of a normal life and the chance to better theirselves in many cases and in many cases the male child becomes their father.
Solutions are difficult, better sex eduction at an earlier age, I know some people who support sterilization after 3 or 4 children born to women in this situation, I don't but I know some who do. This issue isn't going away or getting better.

There is no such thing as illegitimate children, but illegitimate parents. All children born are planned out by a higher power than our own, they are destine to live - regardless how they get here, weather it be by marriage, rape or what ever.
On another note I have witnessed children born to parents who are married and the fathers are so mean or drunk, or molest the children that it would of been better off if the children had been born not knowing who their father was.

Unfortunately , The moral code we were given over 2,000 years ago has been discarded , untaught , and mocked . It is acceptable in today`s society to do or be anything that is against living a moral life ! If one doesn`t know how to look into their own soul with common sense and responsibility , to know right from wrong ; then " you reap what you sow " ! For every action , there is a reaction . Remember " Tis education that forms the common mind , just as the twig is bent , the tree`s inclined " !

Well, they say it takes a whole village to raise a child. It's true. Unfortunately the norms in our society say that we should only be socially active within a small group of "friends" and "family." Take away some of these norms and a more communal, more natural, and more loving social environment may surface. 'Course it wouldn't be so great for the ideas of financial independence our economy revolves around...

If we taught better birth control there wouldn't be so many illegitimate children.
You sound like you're blaming the woman, but it takes 2 to get pregnant. Maybe abortion is a viable if undesirable solution.
No celebs aren't responsible for this lack of character & selfishness....That sounds more like corporate CEO's & politicians.

just because someone has a child out of wedlock does not mean that they are being cheated out a of a father .. not all men disappear from their childrens life just because they arent married to the mother.. that is definitely an unfair assumption or stereotype of men.. yeah some do it.. but its unfair to think all disappear and arent father figures to their children.

The moral structure of our society needs a total overhaul. Celebrities having children out of wedlock and flaunting it by the hideous clothes they wear when pregnant, and also showing off their nude prenant bodies. There was a time when a pregnant non-married girl ws shamed and sent off to "an aunt" or a "home for unwed mothers" where the baby was given up for adoption afterwards. I don't think we should return to that, but I think we need to rethink our entire morality issues. We have parents screaming and swearing at children in malls, we have others swearing in public, being rude, giving the finger and any other numerous anti-social type behaviors. We have all but given up on Sunday morning worship. We need to come back to "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". We need to teach out children and in come cases some adults to abstain from sex (or at least if they are going to do it use protection) and pregnancy out of wedlock. We need to put value back in the family. We need to make it harder to get a divorce and harder to get married so that people will think of what they are doing.
