ok i hope that there are not only going to be people with one liners quoting dumb things about this it is a good philosophic question? think about it "the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he did not exiest" kyser sozey, in christianity it is belived that jesus is all forgiving if this is so then hell does not exist becuase there is not a person on the planet that would not accept jesus upon death if jesus was at the pearly gates.

Further on the subject, what if god him self is the devil and all along we belived in the wrong devine being and now when we enter heaven to our surprise it is not as it was to be belived and as it turns out god wished us to live in a different way or worse lucifer in the war between heaven and hell has won out and when we get there we realize that it was all for nothing? again the greates trick the devil ever pulled was convinceing the world he doesn't exist

Well different people see Jesus in different ways.

Christians have interpretted the story of the story of Jesus through Greek eyes. Things such as the Virgin birth (Alexander the Great) and the assension into heaven (Pythagorus...yes the guy with all the rules about triangles) existed in greek culture before hand.

The jews and muslims see Jesus as a profit and not the son of God.

Interpretations of what is written in the surviving new testaments (there were 30 up the year 300AD when the christians got together in Greece and selected 4 out of 30) suggest Mary was a nun (the nun's title could be translated as nun or virgin) and part of a religious cult (very common in that part of the world at the time were many religious cults) she married another memember who was carpenter (as all members of the cult were meant to take trade, but were also educated).

They raised and educated their son hence his knowledge of scripture at the age of 12.

He called God Father, like every good Jew and his role in his cult as leader or son of God (like the emporer of China sat on the throne of Heaven and the King of France was the Sun King, etc etc).

So Jesus was possibly just a man, who said much the same things as Mohommad, Buddha, Guru, Ghandi and many others.

Morality is not a set of rules, it is a choice. Jesus hated organised religion and felt it is more import to be nice to others than to be religious. Hence he was nailed to a cross (in the same way they tried to go after Martin Luther). So, who was Jesus, it is 2000 years later and we may never really know.

Jesus is part of the Trinity: The Father (God), The Son (Jesus) and The Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit). Jesus isn't before God, He is the Son of God, sent over 2k years ago to take on the sins of the world. The devil can use that type of question you asked: "or is he the spawn of the devil, sent to trick every one into putting him before god?", to confuse those who are new to the Christian faith or to those that are wavering. Even the devil himself tried to get Jesus to worship him (Matthew 4-11), so what do you think he'll do to us?

I think Jesus is one of many enlightened masters. He was aware of himself as God, and told people this. He said things like, "Have faith and you can do these things [that I do] and more" and also, "The only way to the father is by me" which I think means "a life like mine" and not literally "worship me".

We are all the manifestation of God, separated by that fact by degrees of awareness, I believe. Christ was one who was fully aware, and we can come to that realization as well. I think some people prefer to live in the illusions, holding fast to the old adage that ignorance is bliss... But I hold fast to this one:

"The truth shall set you free."

Good luck.

Jesus is Lord. Died on the cross and rose from the grave to redeem us.

by definition, God cannot be the devil. don't trip yourself up with these silly questions. Philosophizing is good but you're not really getting anywhere with that type of "reasoning."

What makes you think that a bunch of people online are going to have more reliable information on this topic than three thousand year old documents?
