I can't remember the name of this book. It's an older book. The young daughter doesn't have a conscious. She kills a little boy, a classmate, by drowning him. the girls daughter goes through this change, and ends up killing the daughter to save the daughter from herself.
I know there's a movie based off this book, and I remember it was black and white.
it's on the tip of my tongue and I can't remember!
Oh, and I also read this in junior high a couple years ago.

That does sound like The Bad Seed by William March. The movie had Patty McCormack as the girl, and it was in black and white. I think I remember the drowning, but I don't remember the mother actually killing the daughter...though, she does die.
There was another movie - also black and white - called Leave Her to Heaven starring Gene Tierney from the book by the same name by Ben Ames Williams. In this one, it's not a girl but a woman, and she allows her husband's young brother to drown. I haven't read the book, but I've seen the movie a few times, and the woman kills herself to try to implicate her husband and sister in her death.
