Unfortunately yes.

We are the only species capable of hate. The atrocities done in the name of religion, in the name of political power, are unbelievable. I think it has not changed, humans have just gotten more sophisticated. Modern weapons kill more people, unfortunately most of them innocents.

I always ask myself: WHY?? I honestly can't understand, my mind just can't understand hate. I can't understand how I could kill or torture someone without feeling I am torturing myself?? We all feel, fear, happiness, and joy. We are all unique. I understand anger, all animals have the capacity for anger...but hate?...just humans feel it.

And just like love, I think hate is learned. It builds slowly, it comes from prejudices and lack of information about other group of people. Hate dehumanizes the other, in order to be able to kill and torture..Why? Why? Why?

Some hate what is different, what they can't understand

Unfortunately this wonderful invention, the Internet, can be used to promote hate. If you google the word, so many hate sites come up. Disgusting indeed

We all can do something to stop hate, and it begins by not allowing hate speech, hate attitudes even if they seem unimportant, hate grows if we let it.

Some quotes to finish:

"We cannot change what happened anymore. The only
thing we can do is to learn from the past and to realize
what discrimination and persecution of innocent people means.
I believe that it's everyone's responsibility to fight prejudice."

Otto Frank (father of Anne Frank)

"Every man, my brother. Every woman, my sister.
Every old man, my grandfather. Every old woman, my grandmother.
Every crying child, my child. Every wounded soul, my soul."

Frank MacEowen

considering you're a Sgaittarius, there's a greta threat that the Mars, Venus or Mercury placement could be got here across interior the neignoring sign of Capricorn (an Earth sign). Venus specially might make you gravitate in direction of the probably stable, salt-of-the-earth, stable variety...that's for sure probably to return into conflict including your fiery Sag sunlight energies...and reckoning on the different placements on your chart which contain Moon, this would the two be a experience that would desire to artwork out or fail miserably. Earth & hearth is usually a confusing blend yet while intergreted tog properly, they'd actually circulate mountains.

My understanding is that hate is directly stemmed from fear, I would presume it to be a coping method for most. People tend to fear what they cannot understand. This is where compassion plays in.
My biggest gripe is the lack of accountability through the world, but who am I to argue this issue without having compassion? If you are set on bettering this world, compassion and understanding are likely to be your best friends.
A person lacking this understanding of empathy is likely to default to hate as their “safe place”. The whole philosophy of a glass being half full, really works, at least for me. Just being able to understand that a person / persons are experiencing suffering of some kind, makes it easier for me to look past the situation at hand and strive for a peaceful resolution.

"The only reason we don't open our hearts and minds to other people is that they trigger confusion in us that we don't feel brave enough or sane enough to deal with. To the degree that we look clearly and compassionately at ourselves, we feel confident and fearless about looking into someone else's eyes. "
-Pema Chodron

"Remember always that you are just a visitor here, a traveler passing through. your stay is but short and the moment of your departure unknown.
None can live without toil and a craft that provides your needs is a blessing indeed. But if you toil without rest, fatigue and wearness will overtake you, and you will denied the joy that comes from labour's end.
Speak quietly and kindly and be not forward with either opinions or advice. If you talk much, this will make you deaf to what others say, and you should know that there are few so wise that they cannot learn from others.
Be near when help is needed, but far when praise and thanks are being offered.
Take small account of might, wealth and fame, for they soon pass and are forgotten. Instead, nurture love within you and and strive to be a friend to all. Truly, compassion is a balm for many wounds.
Treasure silence when you find it, and while being mindful of your duties, set time aside, to be alone with yourself.
Cast off pretense and self-deception and see yourself as you really are.
Despite all appearances, no one is really evil. They are led astray by ignorance. If you ponder this truth always you will offer more light, rather then blame and condemnation.
You, no less than all beings have Buddha Nature within. Your essential Mind is pure. Therefore, when defilements cause you to stumble and fall, let not remose nor dark foreboding cast you down. Be of good cheer and with this understanding, summon strength and walk on.
Faith is like a lamp and wisdom makes the flame burn bright. Carry this lamp always and in good time the darkness will yield and you will abide in the Light."

That video brought back some chilling memories, especially the way the school kids were taught to react to a Civil Defense air raid drills---I remember doing that. An artistic video, though.

As for your question, until and unless the religions world-wide can learn to accept and respect one other there will always be wars. As long as women/men and blacks/whites don't learn to accept and respect one other there will always be hatred. I don't, however, see it as hopeless. There has been progress in my lifetime and in past centuries but a hate-free world won't happen for a lot of generations out from now.

Great question and awesome video! I think we are a species that thrives on polarities. In other words, in order to have love, we have to have something to compare it to. People talk about the inevitability of war and extreme hatred--that's the price you have to pay in order to have (comprehend/appreciate) peace and love. The religioius underpinnings of many civilizations are founded on the principles of good/evil; light/dark; heaven/hell and so on, so that we as humans can't comprehend positive without negative. Our collective history indicates that there has always been conflict between people, so I can't see that changing in the future. Human beings will never stop being territorial or in search of more--more money, more resources, more power--as we are both acquisitive and selfish. If that means taking it from someone we feel is less deserving of these things, so be it. Things will never change, and will likely get worse as the population continues to swell, and as long as individualism is the dominant ethos.

First, Mazzy Star is awesome. One of the best aural valium type bands.

yes, I think there will always be hate on Earth. Cultures clash and infighting ensues. people have always done it. They always will. The utopian ideal of a warless world is fantastic. But, it won't ever happen. Man has a propensity to divide and go to war. Be it because of religion, politics, race, natural resources. Sometimes out of this comes good things. Sometimes bad. There is never change without some sort of conflict.

Biologists belive in hereditary aspects of behaviors. Traits that can still be put to a survive use will stay passed down to the next generations. Hate, sadly in some ways, has this evolutionary advantages. So, yes, for a while it will still be around on earth.

Sad video.......

Undeniably. There will always be hate, whether based on gender, ethnicity, social status, religion, and other reasons unspecified.

For the sake of arguement though, some people do believe that one day peace will be restored to Earth.

It's a beautiful song and I love Mazzy Star, but no hate hasn't always existed. It will certainly destroy us.

That video gave me goosebumps.....yes, tragically, there has always been hate in this world.....but I won't give up the hope that someday that will change. I wish it were now. I wish it were then. But I'm not going to give up hope. It would be easy to let go, and a much greater challenge to change..but the world (and all that is in it) is worth it.
