There is this couple, they are married and very young. The girl is 21, and the husband is 22. I don't like the husband because he cheats on her, and she complains about it, but she will not leave him.

She wanted her "family" to come over for Thanksgiving, and I said my husband had to work so I wasn't cooking. Then she emailed me and asked if I would like to come over for Christmas dinner, and I said "No because i am cooking"

her response was "well me and my family will come over and we can help you cook" this girls idea of holiday dinners is ordering a turkey from popeyes, with all the trimmings. i'm very traditional.

Not to mention I don't want to associate with her husband. And i've told her she is stupid for sticking with him.

My first instinct was to just tell her i was sick and christmas is going to be a no go. I don't want to hurt her. But i really don't like them, they live a very different lifestyle than me, and my husband doesn't even like me talking her.

I am looking for a nice way to tell her "NO"

or something.

LOL cocopuff, yeah popeyes sells turkeys on the holidays... they are cajun turkeys. they sound really good, but not for a traditional holiday dinner. a fast food turkey doesn't seem appropriate.

Just tell her you want to be left alone with your husband for a "private celebration." I am sure she will understand that. I had no idea that Popeye's actually sold turkey. I thought they only had fried chicken.

Dress up like a Jehovah's witness, and start interrupting them as often and at as inconvenient times as possible. Or politely tell the girl that you do not trust her husband alone in the kitchen with the turkey, and get them a gift certificate for Popeye's!

You might want to write to 'Miss Manners' about that one. I can't help you. Sorry. Good question, though.

Or try the etiquette category, too.
