....a manga or anime with the mafia in it? If not also historical, something about the police, one with a real good mystery in it, or anything like that? Just thought Id ask. {Dont care about the genra as long as it includes some of the things above}

try peacemaker it deals with the shinsengumi just before the Meiji Restoration. All the main characters are real and all of the main events are too.

Sherlock has it right: Monster is top quality. It's Japanese voice only, so be prepared for subs, but there are more than 60 episodes, and they are well structured. Mystery and intrigue abound.

You can try Monster. Its a thriller dealing with a doctor accused of murdering his bosses but in reality it was one of his patience that did the killing and other killings in the past and future.
