If you want to become a professor at a university, you would absolutely need a Ph.D. in some business subject (management, finance, marketing, accounting, etc.). For that, the absolute minimum would be four years of college, followed by four years of a Ph.D. program. Many business faculty members chose to get an MBA before going on to the Ph.D., which is useful, but not required. That would be another two years. And many, if not most, spend some time working in business, which adds credibility when dealing with students, especially older and graduate students.

The Ph.D. program usually consists of two years of coursework and another two of working on your dissertation, which is a major research project. Know that you need to go to the best university possible for your Ph.D. in order to be desirable to colleges; don't try to do things quickly or easily by going to a lesser or online school.

I'm really no expert, but to become a full professor I believe you need a PhD. However, I think assistant professors only need a bachelor's degree, at least for community colleges, but a PhD is highly recommended, and often the minimum. I recall a high school teacher telling me she would be allowed to teach a dual-enrollment college calculus course in the high school upon getting her masters in mathematics. This is analogous to teaching at a community college.
