I know that it means moon. That's another reason that I like it.

Not really it could be cute if its a cute girl but if the girl grows up to be well a loser then she could deff. be made fun of (trust me i know a girl) i think Stella is kinda like Luna but more NORMAL and FEMININE and less likely to be made fun of. I'm sorry if i sounded ruse but its just my opinion, don't take it to heart, if you like it you like it!(=

While I like the name, I must warn you that if you give it to your daughter she WILL be teased and called things like Lunatic, Lunacy, etc. I think that is why you don't hear of the name Luna being used already ... so I suggest that you look further and find another name, one that doesn't come with such unfortunate nicknames. Even something just slightly different, like Alun ... it has the same letters, but not the unfortunate nicknames, and it's a good 'girl's name' because it's similar to Alan or Allan but you could pronounce it 'A-loon' ... very nice sounding name for a girl.

I met a little girl name Luna. I think it is very cute and commended the parents on picking such a cool name. They said that they did get a lot of negative comments from people though.

yeah, Luna means Moon. A girl with a name Luna could have a brother with the name Sol (sun).
Other variations for moon are Chandra (hindi) or Yue (japanese)

It's alright. I used to work at an animal hospital and a lot of cats are named Luna.

I love Luna. I think it's gorgeous. I especially like it because of Luna Lovegood, possibly my favourite from Harry Potter. I also like Yuna.

I like it ... makes me think of Luna Lovegood in Harry Pitter who was otherwise known as Loony Lovegood. Ithink she will get called names which is a shame because it is a nice name.

It means moon alright but it will become the butt of many nicknames like looney bin or lunatic,be careful with that.
Why dont you use it for a middle name.

It's good, if that's your last name, and you're Portuguese. In that case it is rather common.
It's an O.K. name, but it rhymes with "tuna", and I know that word can lead to a connotation that you women are kind of sensitive about.
