It's not the hours that suck...it's your job.

Well, see, you work retail. They assume that you don't have a life. :-/ Unfortunately, those hours are legal.

You could try bringing it up with your boss and working out hours that allow you to do things like sleep and have a social life.

To everyone who has said "because that's your job, deal with it" or "just get a different job" - sometimes, because of circumstances, you don't have a choice. She is a human being, just like you are. People with your mindset make me sad. You have apparently never had to work retail.

They do suck. I have a swing schedule as well and it leads to similar situations for me too. Just look on the bright side... you could be one of the millions of unemployed Americans today.

Employment offices have always been known to make their "schedules" the way that suits them. I am thankful that you have a job. I know a lot of folk that can't complain about "any scheduling problems," because they just don't have a job. I wish you well.

It seems they can set your hours however they want.

My motto is that it never hurts to ask. So I would bring your schedule to a manager's attention & see if you could get some more time between shifts to do more than sleep.

Good luck !

You must work retail.

Unfortunately law only requires that you have 8 hours off between shifts... and you've got the minimum.

You had better get off here and go to sleep or get another job. Sounds like Walmart hours to me.

Because you have at least 8 hours off.

If you said you would be available anytime, they can do it. Or they could be doing it because of holiday rush. I can't really answer because I don't know your job. You could try talking to your boss though and try to work a more concrete schedule.

Don't you get paid extra for those hours? Better than babysitting for that long.
