Zoology Degree of Biology Degree with Animal Emphasis?

I want to be a zoo keeper. The director of the zoo near me said some zoo keepers go for a degree in zoology, and some go for degrees in biology with an animal emphasis, to name just two.

What does each degree specifically cover? I need to know which degree I should look into further...

The difference to the two are simply the name. Before the year 1999 most universities offered the degrees Zoology, Botany and Biology as separate degrees. Now most universities call them all Biology.

A Biology degree with emphasis in animals is the same thing as a Zoology degree just with a different name.

For a biology degree you also need some physics, chemistry and biochemistry studied during your degree. You'll probably need to take at least math, biology and chemistry in your finial year of high school.

At the university I attended..the biology and zoology (majors)required courses only differed slightly. Both have a lot of chemistry, and physics. Once you get to upper division classes you can pick and choose what most interests you. You should check out some universities offering both majors and compare requirements to see what's best for you.

You can work for a government agency, a zoo, a lab, a museum, a university, a non-profit, or an environmental consultant firm.
