A moral holiday is a state of being where the person assumes that their thoughts & actions have no meaning as they relate to their spiritual well being because of an over reliance on simple faith. This over reliance on faith enables a person to be callous, negligent or intentionally evil. James implies that spritual salvation requires both faith and moral/righteous behavior. Basically because James believes that final judgement is based on merit as well as faith.
