When you use OS X, it's going to be a totally different interface than Windows, obviously. The main things that you have to keep in mind is that to close, minimize, and resize the window, the buttons are on the top left of the window instead of the top right. Also, the menu bar (at the top of the desktop) controls the application that is running. So, simply clicking the red button on the window of the app doesnt necessarily close the application, it just closes that window in the app. To quit from an app entirely, you have to go to the application name in the menu bar and select quit from there, or you can use the command-Q shortcut key to quit. In OS X there is a dock, which holds all your frequently used apps. If you buy a Mac right now, there is a good chance that Apple will update that product line in a few months.

ok so, what kind of OS X do you have 10.4 or 10.5? I just bought a macbook for school. I have been using mac desktops for years. macs are simple to use. most people say they are sooo complicated, but the truth is really they are easy. those people are so used to searching for files hidden WAY deep in their hard drive. with macs you don't have that problem. I use a PC too, but very rarely.

They just released a new version of the OS. Now is a good time to buy. Like any electronic device, it will eventually be outdated, but you have a few years. And you can always upgrade the OS if necessary.

Within 8 - 12 months Apple will release an upgrade to the Mac of your choice, it's usually a minor speed bump or something else. But that won't mean the Mac you get now will be outdated, it will be supported by Apple for a long while yet.
BTW, anything manufactured will be "outdated" within a year of production.

Sort of depends on what you want to use it for. They just came out with a new OS -- leopard. If you like it (see prior post) when you try it out you will enjoy.
If you are getting one for the experience -- cannot recomend it highly enough. Very solid experience.
The problem with computers is the moore's law -- that every 18 months they reinvent the system.

i love macs. they beat PCs in every way (except gaming) and i dont think they can get outdated very fast. iv had my iMac for about 2 years, and i just got the new operating system, and it actually makes it run fast than it did b4 when i first got it.
