I've been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for about 7 years and I used to love it but for the past 6 months to a year I've noticed that I'm getting a lot of side effects from it. No matter when I take it or what I take it with I feel dizzy, sick, out of it and emotional for about 2 hours after I take it. Also, my sex drive has really diminished. I spoke to my dr who suggested that it is most likely the Pill that's causing this (ruled out everything else) so I'm really not sure what to do.

Are there side effects of going off the Pill? My wedding's in 5 weeks and I don't want to be dealing with side effects during it.

We *really* don't want to get pregnant (my fiance's looking into a vasectomy), would we really be okay with condoms and spermicide?

Thanks!

There should not be side effects from going off the pill, although it's possible you might experience a heavier period. It sounds like it would be better than what you're experiencing. Yes, you'll be okay with condoms and spermicide, although, if you don't like them, you can also try a diaphram and spermicide. Just put it in automatically every night after dinner and make sure you know how to add spermicide to it if needed.

A vasectomy is a good and safe option, since you and your husband may decide you don't want to use condoms (which may lead you to use them inconsistently), and spermicide by itself is certainly not effective and can be very irritating to women.
If you dont' want to do a vasectomy, you can look into a different brand of the pill. Not every brand of the pill is the same. they each have different hormones. I suggest a brand called Mircette, especially for people that can't tolerate Ortho.
Good Luck!

this sounds like the tablets are exacerbating a separate problem. The hormones would cause effects all around the body if they were the main problem so just think if there are any other aches and pains?? The head troubles would not be caused by a hormone problem only, otherwise both eyes would be effected. This could be linked to several more "worrying" problems i the head... not going into too much detail as it might upset one. Have your doctor check it out and ensure you tell him it's only on one eye and recommend he check the pressures in the eye to ensure there is no extra pressure.
