dave grohl from nirvana, mike portnoy from dream theater, neil peart, and dimebag darell's brother (can't remember his name) from pantera are in my opinion the best rock and metal drummers. actually Brann Dailor is pretty amazing too.

Rock: John Bonham. Nothing fancy, but he could go wild on the drums, yet keep that rhythm going.
Metal: Nicko McBrain. He wasn't the fastest metal drummer, but what he did really added to the song.
