http://youtube.com/watch?v=fTRy19vJrJg

The last time I posted a cover of Shadowplay by a band, i almost got my head bitten off. So I'm being brave and trying again. And its not that i prefer this cover over the original or anything, i just want opinions by fans of JD

I'll agree with Nic, of the newer bands making it in the last few years, I really don't mind The Killers, or at least the album "Hot Fuss". Trying to cover a Joy Division song, now that's a horse of a different color. To me, Ian Curtis has the haunting vocals and his sound cannot be replicated. In addition, The Killers were not able to duplicate the angular sound that Joy Division perfected. For that, let's let The Killers sing their own material and keep Shadowplay to the big boys.

I'm saying this as a fan of both Joy Division and The Killers:

I really hate it. I couldn't care less about the fact that it's Shadowplay, I like a lot of songs off of "Unknown Pleasures" better. It's the obnoxious little "Hoo hoo hoo"s in the beginning that ruins it for me. If those hadn't been in there, it might have been a decent cover.

I really like The Killers, but I think Joy Division is just one of those amazing, classic bands that no other band should ever attempt to re-do.
