Whatever You do DO NOT pay any money to an agency
Agents earn there money By getting a Percentage of whatever
jobs You've been cast for that they hooked You up with and a "Real" agent does not need To charge anything up front.
Im not sure what acting experience You have if any,
but a good way to get started is to go to Your local theatre company's which You can find by google, and ask them about any acting classes or workshops they would recomend.
Also look for auditions for short films in Your area again using
google there are lots and lots of students making shorts
and are always happy to use actors without experience
It's a good way to build up Your C.V. /Resume
Of course the don't pay but they are vital.
Consider Your acting carreer as a ladder, to get
to the top You need to take all the steps If any are
missing You will fall to the ground.
People offer You the world for a fee but don't give You
anything in return. And like they say If it sounds to good to be true it usually is!
An agent wont even look at You till You've have a fair bit
of experience so get out there and get Yourself in front
of a camera!!
Try doing work as an extra this is a really great way
to get close up and see the pros do it,
You get paid and You have fun
these types of agencys usually do charge around $50-100
but that is a one of payment.
Hope this helps and good luck with Your acting career.

X

the reason you are having trouble is that you are not qualified to have an agent. Therefore the scams come after you, because they know that. When you have sufficient training, experience and know-how to interest a real agent, you might do that. But it takes years to develop a resume and image that is effective. You don't start a career with an agent, you wind up with one when you are qualified.

I agree with the others. Get seen, build up your portfolio, Do anything within reason to increase your experience. The agent gets paid when they find you work. They do NOT come after you for money upfront.

Have a look at this page link. On the list, #13 is the one you are interested in: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/teen_acting.html

p.s. You will read it, but it's worth mentioning again. No matter what people tell you who say they want to represent you, no matter how good they make things sound, you NEVER pay them to represent you. They get 10% AFTER you've already booked and performed a job!

I wasted a lot of time looking for agents but found that it was a lot more fun performing so have joined an amaeteur theatre company and haven't looked back! Let's face it if they really want you- they can come and get you :)
